…Swells PDP Senate caucus to 42

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA— SENATE President, Dr Bukola Saraki, yesterday, swore in the newly elected senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Ademola Adeleke, to replace the late Isiaka Adeleke, who died on April 23.

With Adeleke sworn in, he has now increased the number of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, caucus in the Upper House to 42.

The oath of office was administered on him by the Clerk of the Senate, Mr Nelson Ayewoh, during plenary.

Currently, there are 108 senators in the Senate, instead of 109 with All Progressives Congress, APC, having 65 members. There is one vacant seat, following the nullification of the election of Senator Uche Ekwunife, formerly representing Anambra Central on the platform of PDP.

Adeleke, who was elected on the platform of the PDP, came to the National Assembly very early, yesterday, with his supporters and clad in white agbada attire with a befitting cap style of his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

Ademola is a younger brother to the late Isiaka.

PDP Senate caucus jubilates
