ABUJA—The President, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Mr. Otis Anyaeji has called on the Federal Government to collaborate with the Institute of Appraisers and Cost Engineers to actualise its diversification plan.
Anyaeji made the call at the 2017 annual Technical Conference and Investiture of the Nigerian Institute of Appraisers and Cost Engineers, NIACE in Abuja.
He said such collaboration between the Cost Engineers and federal government through the Ministry of Budget and National Planning would engender transparency and accountability in government projects and execution processes.
He emphasised the importance of planning and cost engineering in every government project, saying that government must allow the input of cost engineers to succeed in executing any project.
His words: “The way forward for Nigeria is to manufacture all we want and produce all that we need, which the President has said in his budget speech and economic recovery plan. It was well stated that the main aim of that plan is to support local businesses and to produce what we need here in Nigeria.”
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the Institute, Charles Mbelede, said strict implementation of the engineering and cost engineering principles with attention to professional details would enhance economic growth and diversification of the economy.
