LAGOS State Government has stressed the need to inculcate virtues of past leaders into children through regular teachings in schools, homes and public events.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business District, CBD, Mr. Agboola Dabiri, gave the charge at the fourth edition of a special programme tagged; “Echoes from Tinubu Square” organised by the office of CBD to enlighten and educate school children from primary and post primary schools in Lagos on the achievements and virtues of past heroes and heroines in Lagos and Nigeria in general.

Dabiri, speaking at the event through Assistant Director, Human Resources and Administration, Mrs. Adegelu Modupe, said “It is important that the virtues of our past leaders are inculcated into our children through regular teachings in schools, homes and public events.

“The main idea and focal point of this event is to create positive interaction among pupils and students of public schools in Lagos and constantly educate our children on the need to live in peace and harmony.”

He advised that teaching of achievements and virtues of past leaders in the country should be built into school curriculum for regular teaching.

Dabiri noted further that parents of school children in Lagos are from diverse tribes, culture and social background and it is imperative therefore to inculcate the principle of harmonious and peaceful living among them.

Highlight of the event was school debate and cultural display which dwelled on unity in diversity by students drawn from six schools from district 3

Echoes from Tinubu Square is a monthly programme initiated by the Office of the Special Adviser on CBD to keep the Tinubu square park on the Island busy as well as use the event to regularly educate pupil and students from public primary and post primary schools on the achievements of heroes and heroines in Lagos and Nigeria in General.

This month event was witnessed by representatives of Tutor General of District 3, Mrs. Odunsi Agnes, community leaders, opinion leaders, educationists and market leaders from the Island.
