AS Homemakers, serving the best delicacies for you and your families should not only be what matters the most to you. Where the food is prepared should also count as this can determine the appetite for the food. Yes, some homes have professional cooks and what matters is the taste of what it is served. But if you dare check the place the meal is prepared, the meal may be delicious and tasty but it may not be healthy in any way.
As homemakers, you may have already noticed that when the cooker or the stove looks like a dunghill and all the burners have started bringing out red flames, the sight puts you off and makes cooking rather uninteresting, unless the family has cultivated the attitude of ‘it doesn’t matter’.
Importance of maintenance
Homemakers should take it as responsibility to keep the cooker cleaned all the times. Health is wealth and everything that must enter the mouth must come out from a clean environment. If you use your cooker frequently for cooking, you must know about the importance of maintenance and how to keep it safe and working for a long time.
The good news is that, it is not difficult to do if you want to and also not difficult to supervise and ensure that where your meal is coming out from is clean. It is just a matter of making it a habit to clean the cooker before going to bed if it will disturb the urge to eat immediately after cooking. Uncleaned burners can get dangerously clogged and gunk can build up so much that it causes small fires and rust which can take over your once beautiful cooking machine.
Cleaning your cooker without stress
(1)Turn off all your gas burners and allow the stove or the gas cooker to cool down completely before cleaning. Cleaning a stove while it is hot can result in injury.
(2) Once the burners are cool, lift them away from the stove. Place them in the sink or in a large bucket or wash basin if a sink is not available.
(3) Completely submerge the burners in hot water. Add a drizzle of dish soap to the water while it is running to create suds. Allow the burners to soak while you clean the stove.
(4) With a cleaning brush or paper towel, brush away any loose debris. Don’t worry too much about scraping caked on food and grime.
(5) Clean the top of the stove using a stove top cleaner or soapy water. With a clean rag or sponge, scrub the surface. Pay close attention to caked on food and grime. Don’t forget to scrub the knobs and face. Then, spray some cleaner on tough spots and let it soak for five minutes before scrubbing. This will help to loosen the grime.
(6) Use a toothbrush to get into the crooks where the burners and caps sit. These areas can be tough to reach with a rag. Then wipe the area clean with a rag
(7) Use a clean cloth or paper towel to dry the surface. This will prevent streaking and make your surface shine.
(8)Using a toothbrush or sponge, wash the burner grates that were soaking in the sink. Most of the grime will wipe away fairly easy since they have been soaked for several minutes. Set the clean burners off to the side. Use the same toothbrush or sponge, wash the burner caps. Set them off to the side with the burners
(9) With fresh, warm water, thoroughly rinse the burner grates and caps of the soapy residue. After, dry them with a clean cloth. Once the parts are completely dry, place them back in their proper positions. Your stove or gas cooker is now ready for use once again.
Wow! Are these the steps to be taken every night or after every cooking exercise?
No. Maintaining good hygiene by simply wiping the left overs is key but thorough washing must be done at least every weekend.
Homemade Cleaners Easy To Use
*Mixture of vinegar and water. Spray your cooker with it generously and wipe down with a clean rag or paper towel.
The vinegar spray will easily remove spills and splashes, but if it’s been a while since you’ve cleaned your range and have any sort of grease buildup you will need to attack it with soap
*Table salt, baking soda and water
NOTE: Avoid spraying a hot cooker because a cold liquid on a hot stove can cause damage especially to the gas cooker.
