…as commissioner nominees get portfolios

BENIN—GOVERNOR Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has assigned the 18 appointed commissioners to various ministries in the state, just as he announced the scrapping of the Ministry of Lands.

The governor assigned portfolios to them after the first Executive Council meeting  held by his administration and also shortly after a retreat organised for the Commissioners and Special Advisers in Lagos on Tuesday.

Obaseki directed the commissioners to resume work on today, urging them to ensure that they justify the confidence reposed in them.

Among the Commissioners are the former Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr Paul Ohonbamu, who is now in-charge of the Orientation Ministry, former acting Chairman of the state Revenue Board, Emmanuel Usoh is now in-charge of Wealth Creation, Cooperatives and Employment Ministry while former chairman of Owan East LGA, Jimoh Ijegbai is now the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Others are the immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture under the administration of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Joseph Ughoke now Commissioner for Minerals, Oil and Gas, John Inegbedion retains his former seat as Commissioner for Finance,  Yekini Idaiye (Energy and Water Resources).

 

Emmanuel Agbale (Science and technology), Magdelene Ohenhen (Women Affairs and Social Development) and Osahon Amiolemen (Infrastructure).

Mika Amanokha (Youth and Special Duties); Hajia Maryam Abubakar (Budget),  Edorodion Oye Erimona (Physical Planning and Urban Development), Prof. Yinka Omorogbe ( Justice); Osaze Osemwegie-Ero (Arts,Culture and Diaspora), Monday Osaigbovo (Agriculture and Natural Resources), Dr Christopher Adesotu (Education); Reginald Okun ( Environment and Sustainability) and Dr David Osifo (Health).

Some of the ministries were reorganised and renamed to suit the governor’s vision while the Ministry of Lands and Housing which was scrapped will now be supervised as Property Development Authority.
