UGHELLI—ONE person was, on Saturday, confirmed dead, while eight others sustained various degrees of injuries when an IVECO trailer lost control and rammed into some pedestrians and commercial motorcycle operators in Ughelli, Delta State.
The trailer, with number plates CC 15861, was said to have lost control at the Otovwodo Junction axis of the East-West Road, hitting a commercial motorcycle operator and cars parked by the side of the road.
Confirming the accident, the Ughelli Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Olusola Olusegun, said two motorcycles were involved in the accident which occurred at about 10:40a.m. with the victims rushed to the Ughelli Central Hospital for medical attention.
He said: “Though I am not aware of any death for now, the victims are in critical condition and are receiving medical attention at the Ughelli Central Hospital.”
Giving details on the condition of the victims, a medic at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital, disclosed that one of the victims was pronounced dead at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Oghara, where he was referred to for treatment.
